I faced a great challenge for the well-known Slovak artist Andrej Dúbranvský. How to portray his distinctive expression of creativity that is unbridled and passionate? The answer lay in the use of diverse materials: paper, foil but also the use of new technologies such as augmented reality.

Výnimočný katalóg GLYPHOSATE ORGY reflektuje doposiaľ najväčšiu inštitucionálnu výstavu Andreja Dúbravského. Výstava sa uskutočnila koncom roka 2019 v Alšovej juhočeskej galérii. Katalóg zachytáva autorovu tvorbu od roku 2012 až po najnovšie diela prezentované na tejto výstave. Publikácia ponúka reprodukcie diel, kurátorský text od Radeka Wohlmutha v českom a anglickom jazyku, ako aj detailný pohľad do rozsiahlej inštalácie výstavy, na ktorej bolo vystavených takmer 100 Dúbravského diel. Zachytáva autorovu spoluprácu s inými umelcami – keramikárkou Simonou Janišovou, odevnou dizajnérkou Michaelou Bednárovou – Puojd či tanečným performerom Lukášom Zahym.
Dizajn publikácie, ako aj jeho koncepcia, vychádza z tematiky výstavy: zo vzťahu medzi biotopom a ľuďmi, pesticídov a znečistenia. V publikácii sa inšpiráciou grafického dizajnéra Richarda Guzmána stali GHS symboly (identifikácia nebezpečných chemikálií), určujúce rozdelenie výstavných miestností v galérii. Dynamiku publikácii dodáva použitie kolorovaného papiera, v ktorom sú zobrazené dokumentačné fotografie Dúbravského tvorby. Rozšírená realita – videá zo života Dúbravského, sú príjemným doplnkom k rozšíreniu vnímania jeho tvorby.

The exceptional GLYPHOSATE ORGY catalogue reflects Andrej Dúbravský’s largest institutional exhibition to date. The exhibition took place at the end of 2019 at the Alšova South Bohemia Gallery. The catalogue captures the artist’s work from 2012 to the most recent works presented in this exhibition. The publication offers reproductions of the works, a curatorial text by Radek Wohlmuth in Czech and English, as well as a detailed insight into the large-scale installation of the exhibition, which featured nearly 100 of Dúbravský’s works. It captures the artist’s collaboration with other artists – ceramist Simona Janišová, clothing designer Michaela Bednárová – Puojd and dance performer Lukáš Zahy.
The design of the publication, as well as its concept, is based on the exhibition’s theme: the relationship between habitat and people, pesticides and pollution. In the publication, graphic designer Richard Guzmán was inspired by the GHS symbols (identification of hazardous chemicals), determining the division of the exhibition rooms in the gallery. The use of coloured paper, which displays documentary photographs of Dúbravský’s work, adds dynamism to the publication. Augmented reality videos of Dúbravský’s life are a nice addition to broaden the perception of his work.
