Byť tak opäť dieťaťom, hrať sa a vrátiť sa do bezstarostných čias, keď sme boli iba my a hračka.

Mobilita, jednoduchosť, variabilita. To sú slová, ktoré mi rezonovali v hlave, keď som sa snažil premýšľať nad alternáciami zadania, ktoré znelo Mobilná výstava pre Katedru vizuálnej komunikácie.

V mysli som mal fotografiu z nedávnej prednášky, kde nám dizajnér s hrdosťou demonštroval skladnosť jeho vymysleného riešenia. Na fotografii bolo nákladné auto, ktoré poňalo celú výstavu. Dosky, spojovacie materiály, rámy a výstavné objekty boli poukladané tak, aby sa využila maximálna kapacita prepravného priestoru.

Vyzbrojený touto myšlienkou som sa pustil do premýšľania. Začalo sa to pozorovaním existujúcich princípov skladania niektorých častí modelov v architektúre či spojov použitých v detských hračkách. Práve drevené detské priestorové puzzle som si pri svojom návrhu vzal za vzor. Cez rôzne variácie, vrátane panelov s kovovými výstužami a sieťových systémov v nich, som prišiel na finálne riešenie. Použil som dva druhy spojov, pričom všetky veľkosti sú odvodené zo základného štvorca 90 × 90 cm. Z tejto veľkosti sú odvodené ďalšie panely, ktoré majú 90 × 180 cm. Z týchto modulov sa dajú vytvárať rôzne útvary a silnou stránkou riešenia je ich variabilita. Všetky panely sú perforované kruhovými výsekmi, čo im dáva možnosť inštalácie do rôznorodých závesných systémov.

Mobility, simplicity, variability. These are the words that resonated in my head as I tried to think about the alternations of the assignment, which was Mobile Exhibition for the Department of Visual Communication.

In my mind’s eye was a photograph from a recent lecture where the designer proudly demonstrated to us the coherence of his devised solution. The photo was of the truck that conceived the entire exhibition. Boards, fasteners, frames and exhibition objects were stacked to make the most of the transport space.

Armed with this idea, I set to thinking. It started with observing the existing principles of folding certain parts of models in architecture or the joints used in children’s toys. It was a wooden children’s spatial puzzle that I took as a model for my design. Through various variations, including panels with metal reinforcements and mesh systems within them, I arrived at the final solution. I used two kinds of joints, with all sizes derived from a basic 90 × 90 cm square. The other panels, which are 90 × 180 cm, are derived from this size. These modules can be used to create different shapes and the strength of the solution is their variability. All the panels are perforated with circular cut-outs, which gives them the possibility of being installed in a variety of suspension systems.
